Iran Holds Air Defence Drill near Bushehr Nuclear Plant amid rising tension against Israel

On 20th December 2021, Iran held an Air Defence Drill in the South of Bushehr near a Nuclear Facility after being threatened by Israel.

The drill was conducted after the latest round of talks held in Vienna to rethink, re-engage, restore Iran's nuclear deal under JCPOA. 

Since the withdrawal of the US from the nuclear deal in 2018 Tehran has made tremendous progress in Uranium Enrichment. Israeli experts believe that Iran was not very far from acquiring nuclear ability in the short term. 

Hence, the talks ended with modest gains yet no agreement has been made by either side, the Biden administration pushes hard Iran to rejoin the deal to minimize the emerging threat against the regional adversaries.

Tehran's top negotiator insisted Iran was serious about talks, adding that it revised its policy after facing some immense pressure.

Isreal continuously opposed efforts to revive the nuclear deal, said lifted sanctions on Tehran could lead them to become a nuclear power. A media outlet to Iran's Security forces, Nournews, last week reported that security forces access there is a possibility Isreal would make an offensive attack to thwart the Vienna talks. 

Some experts believe if the tension between Iran and Isreal scales up with the same intensity it will have serious consequences as both sides issued some serious warning which triggered a direct military confrontation. 

Isreal already said they were planning to attack Iran's nuclear facility. To counter such statements Iran's Deputy Chief of Armed Forces, Maj Gen Gholam Ali said, "Any threat to the nuclear and military bases of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Zionist regime will not be possible without the green light and the support of the United States."  

Earlier this month a loud explosion was heard near Iran's main Natanz nuclear facility, later, the state-affiliated media of Iran reported the explosion was caused as part of an air defense drill there was no such external factor involved.  

Last week Iran's affiliated magazine, Tehran Times warned: "Just One Wrong Move" placed on its front page pointing targets inside the Isreal covering all the area suggesting the Zionist regime has forgotten that Iran is more capable of hitting them from anywhere.
