India-Pakistan I Cold Start Doctrine

Israel l The High-Tech Military Superpower

It's been only 73 years since Israel got independence. Now, it became a high-tech military superpower that can compete with other developed countries without much resistance - the country struggled to find a trading partner initially but now became a leading arms exporter country.

Israel doesn't have many natural resources to boost its economy; however, the innovation in high-tech in the military domain leads it to the largest arms exporter country. Since the late 19's Israel is responsible for about 60% of the global market, trailed by the US, whose market share is under 25%. Its importers are everywhere - Russia, India, South Korea, France, Germany, and Brazil.

How did this happen?

A country yet not been 75 years old, became a superpower in a highly advanced era where the modern war fought through AI. Anyhow, there are many factors behind this advancement.

  • About 4.5% of its GDP is spent on research and innovation, having said this low spending on Economic Corporation and Development. About 30% goes to a product of a military nature. By comparison, only 2% of German R&D and 17% of US R%D is for the military.
  • Another major factor is the contribution of innovation and creativity. Israelis are more willing to take risks than other states. To prepare for the deadly consequences, make their military service compulsory, at a very young age.
  • Lastly, Isreal is a perpetual state of conflict, which fought a war almost every decade, to counter the surrounding states which they consider an enemy. This reality, of having your back against the wall, sharpens the mind. It forces them to be creative and innovative for survival.

Guardium (Border Patrol):

The Guardium is a robotic weapon known as Unmanned Ground Vehicles or UGV's. Isreal is the first country in the world who used these robots to replace soldiers on a mission like border patrols.

Guardium UGV's are deployed along Isreal's border with Syria in the north and the South in the Gaza Strip. It is equipped with a range of the sensor, cameras, and weapons - driven by a soldier sitting in a command center miles away from the location.

Due to its low military personnel, increase use of robots by the Israel Defense Forces is part of a larger strategy to minimize risk to soldiers when possible.

Israel also relying on UGV's like robotic snakes to deter the infiltration through tunnels from the places like the Gaza Strip. These robots map out the structures, giving soldiers accurate visibility of a battle area before the place is stormed. The same technology was applied at Sea.

Drones:

Israel's drones have revolutionized the modern battlefield. It was the first country in the world to operate drones in combat operations. It was 1969 when the IDF flew toy airplanes with cameras glued to bellies along the Suez Canal to spy on Egypt. Later in 1982, it flew its first combat drone, called Scout, in Lebanon, which played a certain role in locating and neutralizing Syrian anti-aircraft missile systems.

In 1986, Israel supplied the US Navy with its first drone known as Pioneer. Years later, one pioneer made history when it flew over a group of Iraqi soldiers during the First Gulf War. While seeing the aircraft in the air, Iraqi soldier's taking off their undershirts and waved them in the air. It was the first time in history that a military unit had surrendered to a robot.

Drones give soldiers the ability to make calculated decisions before invading or storming into an enemy compound. IDF now actively uses drones to carrying the airstrikes.
