Overview of Embraer Lineage 1000 (Sea Sultan)

On Friday, the first Embraer Lineage 1000 for the Pakistan Navy's underdeveloped flee 'Sea Sultan' long-range Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) was seen taking off from Karachi on a training flight. The deal officially disclosed by the outgoing Naval Chief Adm Zafar Mahmood Abbasi on October 6, aimed to replace the US-made Lockheed P-3C Orion, ten aircraft will be ordered while the contract of 1 has already been completed.

It is specifically designed for Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) as well as Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, ASuW, Electronic Intelligence, ESM, C2, and SAR.

The modification will be expected to be done by Rheinmetall Air Service (Germany), which has already modified the ATR-72 commercial aircraft onto the RAS-72 Sea Eagle MPA for Pakistan Navy. The same integration seems to be expected in Sea Sultan with better long-range, longer endurance, more subsystems with external hardpoints, and more payloads.

The expected unit cost of this technology is $50 million, but it's looking at an $80-90 million flyaway cost with the upgrades and modifications.
