Mysterious Sixth-Generation Aircraft

  • Reportedly US Air Force revealed the concept art of its new fighter jet that was designed, built, and tested secretly.
  • The mysterious fighter aircraft is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, the project designed to supplement and replace the F-22 Raptor.
  • Yet it's unclear if the new concept art holds resemblance with actual aircraft.

US reveals an image of the fighter that will replace the F-22.

Presently F-35 stealth fighter jet considers the highly advanced fighter jet in the US Air Force, which is still rolling off the production line and deploying across the globe, with that US also begun work on a futuristic 6th-generation fighter - an aircraft that may have increased stealth, drone companions, boosted artificial intelligence, and even the ability to heal itself when damaged.

Last Year September, the top acquisition of the USAF's official, Will Roper, told Defense News: "We've already built and flown a full-scale flight demonstrator in the real world, and we broke records in doing it. We're ready to go and built the next-generation aircraft in a way that has never happened before."

According to sources, US Air Force has said that NGAD exists to examine five major technologies that are likely to appear on next-generation aircraft, with the goal of enhancements in survivability, lethality, and persistence. Not specified what four of those technologies are.

The program innovatively uses a non-traditional acquisition approach to avoid traditional monolithic program schedules and exorbitant life-cycle sustainment costs. This strategy, called the "Digital Century" Series approach, creates a realistic business case for the industry to adopt commercial best practices for key design activities - before the part is even manufactured.

The revealed image also hints at the upgraded capability of the weapons, three versions of air-to-air missile, landing gear, and engine labelled V1, V2, and V3 can be seen in the jet.

It's too early to say whether the NGAD image represents the real aircraft or limit only in paperwork. The image seems like it properly depicts the kind of plane and capabilities the US Air Force has said it demands. Whatever the news behind, I'll keep updating you with every news regarding the NGAD program.
