Inter Services Intelligence shortened as ISI is Pakistan's leading armed functioned intelligence agency. It has this honor as the first line of Pakistan's defense. According to American Crime News, it is world's finest, disciplined and strongest intelligence agency.
It is also the top intelligence agencies of Pakistan including Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Military Intelligence (MI). It was founded in 1948 after the 1947 Indo-Pak war, known as Kashmir War. It is primarily responsible for gathering, processing and analyzing information relevant for national security from all around the world.
This agency works very secretly and its policies are made in a way that no other institution is aware of its processes except Civil and Military leadership with only need to know basis.
Structure:
Since 1971, the ISI has formally been headed by a serving three star general of the Pakistan Army, which is appointed by Prime Minister on recommendation of COAS, currently ISI is headed by Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed as a Director General of ISI. DG ISI directly brief reports to Prime Minister and Army Chief.
If you look at the structure, there are three Deputy Directors who works under Director General and follow three different fields.
- Internal Wing: One first sub ordinate deals with counter- intelligence and political issues in Pakistan.
- External Wing: This wing under the supervisory of Deputy Director deals with external issues, external counter intelligence, and external threat.
- Foreign Relation Wing: As you get by name, this wing deals with decoding the matters as well create better relation with other intelligence agencies.

Operation Cyclone was the codename for the United States CIA program to arm and finance the Mujahideen in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989, prior to enduring the military interpose by the Union of Soviet Republics in support of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, it was planned and executed by ISI with CIA, since then the agency gained global recognition and fame.
