5th Generation Warfare

Since the beginning of mankind, we have experienced different evolution in every aspect of life. We also witness constant evolution in every domain and especially in war domain, we talk about the  Generation of Warfare which evolve from 1st GW to 5th GW now. 

5th GW  referred as to destroying a specific target without a human seeing it, if this assumption start to see then we are confront with 5th GW which is unrestricted in nature, its definition still ambiguous in nature and expert defined "all means whatsoever."-means that involve military resources means that do not involve military resources.

In this warfare a normal person  unable to identified the distinctive lines between war and peace, as the war is non-kinetic which is imposing in different countries and Pakistan is top of the list. As the Media Wing of of Pakistan highlight it Pakistan being subjected to 5th-Generation Warfare in massive way but we are aware of threats: DG ISPR   

Definition of 5GW:

The new dimension of war (5GW), it has been called as a new battlefield war, where the opponent is not a defined entity, where the social media platforms used as a weapon, where the wrong perception is build for masses, where information misguided, as to further add the review of US Marine Colonel (retd) T.X. Hammes states in an article "5GW will result from the continued shifts of political and social loyalties to causes rather than nations. It'll be marked by the increasing power of smaller and smaller entities and the explosion of biotechnology 5GW will truly be a nets and jets war: networks will distribute the key information, provide a source for the necessary equipment and material, and constitute a field from which to recruit volunteers; jets will provide worldwide, inexpensive, effective dissemination of the weapons." 

As the battlefield has changed, it demands totally a new mindset and approach, different strategy has to be prepared or adopted as to combat this new modern warfare.          

What do recent revelations about an Indian disinformation campaign against Pakistan, has the 5GW started between Pakistan and India?

Earlier this year, the Brussels-based company organization renown as EU DisinfoLab disclose the Propaganda of India against Pakistan through an investigation report which titled as "Indian Chronicles", that how India mislead or misinterpret the image of Pakistan.

Further, this report exposed an operation that took place more than 15 years in 116 countries, which is clearly visible that how India run 500 fake media outlets and dozens of fake NGO's. The intend is to push an anti-Pakistan narrative in the EU and United Nations. 

All these tools like information, propaganda, fake-news, mislead of media are the modern from warfare, the so called 5th Generation Warfare.
